PorcelainPorcelain buttons were patented in Stoke-upon-Trent, England, in 1840. They were made by Greenpoint Pottery in New York in 1848 and in South Norwich, Connecticut in 1853. Most porcelain buttons found in button boxes are white or ivory, although some have colored patterns ("calicos" & "stencils"), while others have a ring of color ("ringers"). | ||
